Blogging with the Chicks

I'm blogging over at Prairie Chicks Write Romance today about submissions and results. In particular, the emotions I'm feeling right now as I await the results of 2 contests with 2 entries each and one partial submission.

Usually the results don't all come in the same time period. And they still may not, but it's possible they'll all come today. Or tomorrow . . .

Are you waiting for an answer to a submission right now? How many do you have out? What do you have out? Who has it? How long has it been there? Are you frustrated that it’s taking so long? Do you wonder if it even got there?

Come on, talk to me about your submissions. I have lots of time to talk today. After all, I’m only sitting here watching my inbox . . .

    should you need a shoulder to cry/whine on, mine's handy. and i'll even throw in the encouraging words reminding you of how great a word crafter you are.

    always know you've got one big fan and supporter who isn't a relative.

    looking forward to reading about your results - good, bad or otherwise. oh, i wish i could go with you to Denver. That's my hometown. My mom and brothers live there. I'm really hoping you final for the RWA so I can meet you in person!

    Hey Deb, yeah, I'm feeling kind of rotten right now. They had over 450 entries total and I'm really happy for the finalists, but I really thought I had a chance this year.

    Thank you for the encouraging words. It means a lot to me. Especially coming from someone who writes awesome stories herself.

    Now I have to wait a few more days to find out about the RWA one. sigh.

Prairie Wildlife Photos

These days, I'm busy working on the final draft of my historical romance, Emma's Outlaw , so I thought I'd give you some photos to check out. They are all of prairie wildlife in my area. Do you remember the afternoon JJ and I sat in the van on the empty dirt road with the suspicious looking dynamite box and waited for the Mountie? Well, these cowbirds kept us company. I had this photo in mind and just needed to wait for the cowbird to take flight. I waited. And, I waited. Then, I almost missed it because my arm was getting tired holding the camera in position and the bird decided to take off at the same moment I lowered the camera. About a quarter mile away on the same road but on a different day, I glanced at this familiar old bridge and saw a mule deer hiding underneath.
