Happy Canada Day

Image
It's July 1st and Canadians are celebrating the 143rd birthday of our great country. If you are Canadian, how will you celebrate, today? If you are one of our American friends, how will you celebrate your country's birthday in 3 days? :)

Handing out Recipes

Image
I'm blogging over at Prairie Chicks Write Romance today. We're sort of taking the holidays off but we're still blogging. Last week was stories and this week we're doing recipes. Leftover recipes, that is. The other Chicks have posted recipes for a Wassail bowl and Plum Pudding as well as using leftover turkey and cranberries. My recipes today are for Eggnog Bread and Mashed Potato Candy . Great reasons to clean out your fridge before the new year, if you're so inclined. You also have just a few more days to enter the Prairie Chicks Anniversary Contest. So what are you waiting for? Hoping you're showered with blessings in the coming year. Anita Mae.

Early July Happenings

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. Here in Montmartre, SK the sky was cloudy and drizzly but it didn't dampen the spirits of those coming to attend the 100 year celebrations. I stayed home. Since we've only been living here 10 yrs, we don't have ourselves invested into the history of the Rural Municipality (RM) as much as the long-standing citizens. So the boys went, but I stayed to get some plotting done. Today after church, however, I stopped in to take a few pics of the new replica of the Eiffel Tower. There's rumours going around that it will be taken down because of the threat of kids climbing on it. I wonder if the RM's insurance rates will skyrocket because of the structure. We'll have to see. Anyway, there's been a change at home as I'll be dropping off both boys at camp on Monday which leaves me kidless for the week. Yay! I'm also participating with eHarlequin's JunoWriMo Challenge. My goal is to write 3,000 words a day startin...

Happy Birthday, America

Image
To all my American friends, I'd like to wish the best birthday ever! Imagine, 233 yrs ago today, you fought for Independence against England - and won! From my point of view on this side of our long-standing border, the American people have grown strong in body, mind and spirit. And I'm very glad to call so many of you my friends and relatives. *waving to Judy Happy Birthday, America. May God keep your nation strong.

Memorial Day

Wishing all my friends south of the border a good, safe, Memorial Day. Praying for God to bless those who serve where they are needed. Thanking God for giving men and women the courage to fight for their country. Praising God for allowing me to live in a peaceful country where I am free to attend the church of my choice, read the books I choose to read, and say whatever's on my mind as long as I don't spread hate toward my fellow man. (Why do I have the urge to say, 'Live long and prosper' at the end of that?)
