Prairie Chicks: Dialogue to Remember

I'm blogging at Prairie Chicks Write Romance today about those memorable lines in books, TV and films.

I've mentioned lines from Gone With the Wind, Star Trek, When Harry Met Sally, Always, Poltergeist, Sudden Impact,  The Terminator and Terminator 2.

But there are so many others where you instantly remember the book or movie as soon as you hear the line.

Here's one I didn't mention over there... "Hey, what's up, Doc?" (Bugs Bunny) or what about "Elementary, my dear Watson." (Sherlock Holmes)

    I will never forget when I first read "Elementary" in Sherlock Holmes and found out that he never actually says the whole line in Conan Doyle's original! It's amazing how one word can give rise to an entire culture and help us feel such a sense of community!

    Hey, Erin. Really? That's too funny because I googled 'elementary sherlock holmes' last night because I wasn't sure if he'd really said, 'my dear'. And a bunch of choices came up and they all said 'Elementary my dear Watson'. I didn't check any further than that.

    One of my favorite lines comes from the movie CON AIR : "There's only two people I trust. I'm one. And you're not the other."

    I'm too tired to think but it won't stop me from opening my mouth here.

    A few months ago, Facebook did a theme (someone starts these things...) about naming a famous movie line. It was a lot of fun. I picked a different one for each day of that week. The shortest one was ....

    "FREEDOM!!!!"
    Braveheart. Okay, there's a whole speech Wallace makes before he shouts this but it sums up the movie nicely.

    I clicked on your name to see who you were and I have to say, I think your 'About Me' description is one of the best I've seen.

    You've got a good start on your 'Trial Blog'. Have you decided how you'll use it?

    Deb - was Wallace all painted up and wielding some kind of hammer-like weapon at the time? That's the image that comes to mind at the word, 'Freedom!!!'. And that's a good line, too.

    About my blog, I do have a wee bit of a problem with the header. I can't seem to move the words over so they fill the empty sky and not hide in the trees.

    If anybody who knows how to fix it, please tell me. I can take directions. Really, I can.
